Melbourne Cup Carnival

6/30/2017

There’s something extra special about spring in Melbourne. Spring is event season, and the event that encapsulates Melbourne’s culture of fashion, food, and sports, is the Melbourne Cup Carnival!

Beautiful flowers blossom and the city buzzes as people prepare for one of the biggest events in Melbourne’s calendar. Melbourne Cup Carnival is all about gorgeous fascinators, unique outfits fashionistas dare to wear, and iconic vendors styling marquees, producing delicious food for guests and providing high end service.

Peter Rowland Catering is a stand out vendor who consistently makes Melbourne Cup Carnival an amazing event, providing catering services across the Cup Carnival as well as hosting their own stylish marquee.

I’ve had the opportunity of witnessing the brilliant work Peter Rowland Catering produces, not only within their stunning marquee, but also through my wedding at Port Melbourne Yacht Club.

Their marquee is complete with delicious food, stunning furnishings, a fun yet classic atmosphere and impeccably dressed guests.

In 2016, the Peter Rowland marquee was a sensation with a unique China themed aesthetic. The inspiration for the marquee came in the form of a documentary, The Costume Institute’s 2015 Spring exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’.

Every detail complimented the theme, with the marquee colour scheme embodying world-famous Shanghai porcelain in blue and white, and gold for its traditional meaning of good luck.

The theme was reflected in every element of the marquee; carefully curated décor, calligraphy by Nicholas Chin, staff uniforms, serving-ware with splashes of blue ink on perfectly white platters, a Signature Cocktail and a delectable Chinese menu especially developed for the event.

With their amazing food and service sprinkled across the event including in the exclusive Birdcage, there’s no doubt Peter Rowland Catering have become a part of the Melbourne Cup Carnival history!
